Heart Month Celebration

In celebration of Heart Month, Fort HealthCare is hosting a free event on Thursday, February 21 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at Fort Memorial Hospital in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Education Room.

Free activities are open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend. Blood pressure, glucose and body fat analysis screenings will be offered from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. These screenings will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. No registration is required. From 12:30 to 4 p.m., the Cardiac Rehab staff will be providing training demonstrations on the fitness equipment available in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center.  At 2:30 p.m. there will be a cooking demonstration given by Colleen Miller, Steel Away Café executive chef, providing information on how to cook delicious meals that are low in fat and salt and good for your heart.

In addition to the Heart Month Celebration, Fort HealthCare is offering a Heart-Heathy Eating class on Tuesday, February 5 at 4 p.m. This class taught by Tara LaRowe, P.h.D. will provide heart-healthy choices available from each food group as well as ideas on how to incorporate these foods into your daily routine.  Cost is $5 – interested participants may register online or by calling (920) 568-5244.

A blood drive is scheduled for Friday, February 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Fort Memorial Hospital and will help to help keep an abundant supply of blood locally. To register, call the Fort Memorial Hospital laboratory at (920) 568-5261 or online: BCW.edu/FortHealthCare.
