Tuesday, September 3, 2013

Fort HealthCare has named Bridget Thomas, MAPR, MAC, as the program director of the Wound & Edema Center in Johnson Creek. Thomas joined Fort HealthCare in 2009 as a marketing specialist and has been responsible for marketing the clinic’s services since that time.

The Wound & Edema Center is the only clinic of its kinds in the area, offering a unique mix of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), specialized wound care and lymphedema therapy. In addition to HBOT, leading-edge treatments include negative pressure therapies, bioengineered tissues and biosynthetics that are often not available in primary care settings.

Opening in 2008, the Wound & Edema Center has been named a “Center of Distinction” for the past four years, most recently earning the Robert A. Warriner, III, MD “Center of Excellence” award. Criteria for these awards includes healing rates above 96 percent and patient satisfaction above 90 percent.

Thomas will be responsible for achieving clinical, operational and financial results at the center which offers state-of-the-art treatment practices and protocols to reintroduce the body's innate ability to heal.

She holds master’s degrees from both Lakeland College and Webster University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. A Johnson Creek resident, Thomas has been involved with the community as a village trustee and member of the library board, youth cheerleading coach and member of Johnson Creek Neighbors to Neighbors.

Chronic wounds affect more than 8 million patients in the U.S. and the incidence is rising fueled by an aging population and increasing rates of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, obesity and the late effects of radiation therapy.
